About Permit

This small village has a large military settlement as Indo-Tibet border is very nearby and for security reasons you need to issue permits before entering this place. You have to submit your id proof and photograph by giving the reason to visit this place. The permit can be issued at Rangli or Gangtok.

How to reach Zuluk?

It takes 4 hours to reach Zuluk from Gangtok via Tsomgo and Baba Mandir but normally it is not so easy to get a permit for this route. So, it is better to reach Rongpo and then Zuluk via Rorathang. NLP to Zuluk car fare is quite affordable and gives you another option to reach the place comfortably.

From NJP / Bagdogra to Zuluk - 160 km (6 hours)

From Kalimpong to Zuluk � 90 km (3.5 hours)

Best Places near Zuluk

Thambi View Point

 

After watching the views of Zuluk you must start your journey towards Thambi which is 14 km away from Zuluk through the zig-zag road. The view which is clicked from Zuluk can be covered on the way towards Thambi and that's really fun. Turns on the road makes you excited and you need to control your body by adjusting with the shakes.

Finally, when you reached Thambi, the Himalayan range, blowing wind, flying birds and mighty Kanchenjunga will welcome you in a true sense. Original Silk Route is still available there which is made from stone. Thambi is located at the altitude of 11,200 feet above sea level; people suffering from breathing issues might get into trouble.

Lungthung

 

Lunthung is a peaceful village at the altitude of 13,000 feet and shares exotic locales of east Sikkim. You will find tea gardens on the slopes of the mountain that looks like waves of the ocean. This small village is very popular with Tibetan migrants. They had to flee their country at the time of the Chinese invasion. Meeting those innocent people will make you feel better and even some people tell you stories of the old days if you show your interest in them. Lunthun is 4 km away from Thambi.

Tukla

 

Tukla is mostly known for the Battle of Tukla and gives you a moment to bow your heads in front of those brave soldieries who fought against the Tibetan soldiers in the year 1903. Besides this, you can roam around this village to feel your heart with the mesmerizing beauty of nature. Tukla valley will also give you a rare view of Kanchenjunga and other nearby mountain ranges. You must wake up early to watch the sunrise at Tukla.

Nathang Valley

 

Winter is the perfect season to visit Nathang Valley to experience Skiing and snowboarding that will add adventure to your trip. The road turn left towards Nathang Valley when coming from Tukla and if you go right you will old Baba Mandir. The valley looks amazing after the snowfall and makes the weather chilling so that you can enjoy the wildness of nature at the highest level. There are fewer scopes for accommodation in Nathang Valley in compare to Zuluk. Contacting a travel agent is really a better option to manage your trip comfortably.

Kupup

 

 

About 5km from Nathang valley you will reach Kupup that looks stunningly beautiful for the secret lake. The lake is known as Hati Lake or Elephant because the shape of the lake looks like an elephant. You can witness this lake along with the highest golf course in the world which is managed by the Indian army. Kupup is a nice place to enjoy your time by sitting near the lake or by watching the canvas where God tries to paint something beautiful.
