A visit to this country gives an experience that is much beyond its striking natural beauty, unique architecture, spicy food, and ancient culture. It is all about discovering a new way of life.

While every place has its uniqueness, there were a few unique things about Bhutan too that will surprise you!

No desserts!

Can you believe it? Though food is delicious but you might not get desserts after filling your stomach. Their menus have no option for desserts. However, it is true that any other country does not have any such rule.

No traffic lights!

Throughout Bhutan, there are no traffic lights. Do you know the reason behind it? One, the traffic is low. But even when there is traffic, they are disciplined enough to manage beautifully. The only place where you can see policeman giving directions is in Thimphu.

No smoking!

Bhutan is a smoke-free country as smoking is officially banned. Still tobacco is sold in a limited manner. Though it is not allowed youngsters smoke secretly. So, before you go there then do get a permit for taking packets.

Tea with Salt!

Have you ever tasted tea with salt? We hope you have not but Bhutanese do. Bhutanese have their tea with salt in it. It is called Suja and they love it. If you ever visit, then do try it. But do have a practice of it or else you may not like it!

Hiking to the Tiger's Nest!

Bhutanese practices Buddhism which can be rightly seen by Tiger's Nest Monastery. Perched on a cliff, it is one of the famous monasteries of Bhutan. There is an hour trek to reach the monastery but all the pain goes away on seeing the serenity of the monastery.

No newspapers on Sundays

As the Bhutanese are relaxed but they work on fixed hours. They do not have any urgency for any work making it easy and smooth. Hence, Sunday is a complete off so much that even newspaper does not arrive.
